Check Out The New GaraRoll Lite Roller Door

We’ve just launched a new economy version of Garador’s popular GaraRoll roller garage door, the aptly named ‘GaraRoll Lite’. With a tubular driven motor design and insulated aluminium laths, this value added roller garage door is a great choice for homeowners looking for value, a functional design and quality engineering, all at an affordable price.

Garador GaraRoll Lite roller door in Golden Oak

Tubular Motor Driven Operator and Hand Transmitters
The GaraRoll Lite is supplied with a tubular motor driven operator and 2 hand transmitters as standard, as well as a hand crank for use to open/ close the door in the event of a power failure. A built-in internal courtesy light with 2 minute delay provides added convenience.

Cover Supplied as Standard
Not dissimilar to the original GaraRoll, the GaraRoll Lite is supplied with a full cover for the curtain, at the top of the garage door when it is rolled up.

Optical Sensor for Safety
An optical sensor has been fitted into the floor seal to ensure that the door curtain stops, in the event of an obstruction. It utilises light beam technology, whereby when the beam is broken the door will stop.

Easy to Install
The GaraRoll Lite is easy to install, with a handy-belt system for ease of fitting the curtain to the barrel, as with the standard GaraRoll.

Reduced Guide Width
Guides of 72mm which are not normally found on domestic roller doors, means the door can be fitted behind 75mm reveals.

With a significant cost advantage and an expertly engineered design, the GaraRoll Lite is a great choice for homeowners in need of a space saving garage door.

Do more with your GaraMatic operator, with the new 4-button hand transmitter

Very soon, our GaraMatic operator packages will be supplied with a new compact 4 button garage door hand transmitter. The new 4 button hand transmitters will incorporate the same ultra-secure technology and ergonomic design as their 2 button counterparts.

So for customers seeking a compact hand transmitter design that will fit on their key ring, or in their pocket more easily than some of the more bulky handsets currently on the market, whilst offering 4 buttons instead of 2, this is a great addition.

Control More Doors with a Compact Design: Because the new hand transmitter has 4 buttons, you can control up to 4 doors, where it was previously just 2 doors.

Programme Each of the 4 Buttons to Perform a Different Function: With more buttons, you could programme one button on the handset to open a gate or garage door, a second button to open the garage door, a third button to turn on the light on the GaraMatic 10 operator unit and, possibly the fourth button to activate the partial opening feature.

Matt Black Textured Surface: The new 4 button hand transmitter features the understated, classy matt black textured surface.

Ultra-Secure Technology: The new 4 button hand transmitter utilises high frequency (868 MHz) encryption signals for added security, ensuring no one can copy your signal. Furthermore, the use of bi-directional radio signals increases the range and reliability of the handset, enabling customers to control their garage door from even further away.

As current stocks run out, GaraMatic operator units will be replaced and shipped with new handsets; two 4 button hand transmitters for GaraMatic 9, and a 4 button and 5 button hand transmitter with GaraMatic 10 and 20 models. For further information on this hand transmitter, check out the Garador website.

This year we introduced savouries, as well as some very delicious sweet cakes, into the mix… just to shake things up a bit, and it has been a real success with £224.00 raised for the charity!!!

Cakes and savouries for Garador Macmillan Coffee Morning

As you can see in the picture above, we saw more delicious cakes to tickle our taste buds, including lemon drizzle cake, chocolate cake, triple chocolate cookies, iced cupcakes, malteser cakes, Oreo cupcakes… and that’s just the sweet stuff. The savouries included a 3 cheese quiche, mini ham and cheese pizzas and sausage rolls… all lovingly home made by the office staff here at Garador.

Garador Supports Charity Cycle to work Day

Cycle to Work Day logoGarador have decided to support Britain’s ‘Cycle to Work Day’ and reward any member of staff that cycled to work on 14th September 2016, with a free croissant and coffee!

It was a lovely sunny today in Yeovil and a great day for our Charity ‘Cycle to Work Day’. Lots of Garador staff took part and there was a great effort and some great mileage with both Neil Bond and Pete Rice doing 26 miles putting them at the top of the leader board in terms of distance, although Pete Rice did cycle his route on a mountain bike so probably deserves the crown!

Between all of the Garador staff who took part, they clocked up over 250 miles today and collected over £25 which Garador will make up to £30, before doubling to £60 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Check out the Cycle to Work Day website for more details of how it works.

Do you have a short driveway?

a short driveway with a Garador up and over garage doorHaving a shorter driveway can pose problems for some homeowners, especially when they want to park their car close up to the garage door without the risk of the door kicking out and clipping the car bonnet when it opens. But with lots of new build housing developments it is all too common a sight.

Luckily, we offer styles of door, specifically engineered to get around such a problem. The Garador sectional garage door, for example, rises vertically and then runs on tracks back into the garage, without any ‘kick out’ that you normally get with a traditional Up and Over garage door. Ultimately, fitting the sectional garage door results in no loss of driveway space in front of the the garage door, giving maximum parking space and allowing you to park up as close as you want to the garage door. Furthermore, you don’t have any loss of drive through width in the garage door opening, which might be taken up by the design of the lifting gear on some doors. So you can take advantage of the full garage door opening, a key consideration for homeowners with wider vehicles such as 4x4s and MPVs such as vans and people carriers.

A Garador sectional garage door is often the door of choice as it aesthetically stunning and will enhance the look of a property. A sectional garage door is undoubtedly a more sophisticated door design, giving the impression of a more modern home and a great first impression. With more moving parts it is more complex, but is less likely to go wrong in the long term. The doors come in a wide variety of designs and colours; including Linear and Georgian designs and over 16 standard colour options. This gives enough choice to suit even the most particular tastes or architectural features. With a full range of size options, including standard and purpose made, there really is a door for every requirement and every build.

As with all Garador garage doors, the sectional door range offer excellent security and reliability. Sturdy rubber weather seals on all sides of the door ensure maximum weather proofing and 42mm thick door sections on Premium models ensures terrific thermal insulation. This has to be the best choice for integral garages and workshops where thermal insulation is paramount. A classic single skinned range is also available at a very competitive price point. Superior operating lifting gear provides smooth operations and the doors are totally reliable, safe and low maintenance.

It’s the best sectional garage door currently available on the market, but don’t just take our word for it. Check out the sectional garage doors video on the Garador YouTube channel, view the sectional garage doors range on our website or find your nearest Garador stockist or installer.

Garador Supports Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance ‘Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride’

Garador were delighted to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance service in their annual ‘Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride’ which was held on Sunday 15th May 2016. This year, there were 539 riders taking part and Garador supported the charity event by providing three of their 18 ton lorries to help transport bicycles from West Bay in Dorset to  Watchet Harbour in North Somerset.

Garador lorries on Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride 2016

The challenging 54 mile cycle ride began in Watchet Harbour in North Somerset and ran all the way to East Beach car park, West Bay Harbour near Bridport in Dorset. Air ambulance officials were very impressed with the equipment for transporting used to transport the bikes and the care and attention taken by the drivers when loading and unloading.

Bill Sivewright, CEO of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance commented ‘The riders were delighted to be reunited with their ‘trusty steeds’ delivered so carefully by your goodselves [Garador]’

The weather certainly helped and brought out many of the cyclist’s family and friends who came along to offer their support and encouragement at Watchet Harbour, West Bay and various points along the way. Over £54,000 has been raised as part of the Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride thus far and Garador has been delighted to support such a worthy and important cause.

Please visit the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance website for further details about the organisation and other charity events.

The Garador Design Range… not just for Grand Designs

Garador 201 Design RangeHave you seen Garador’s 24 different design range door models? With a minimalist steel appearance, these up and over doors are the perfect choice for ultra-modern properties and those with more traditional architectural features.

Currently there is no affordable solution for stylish garage doors on modern buildings in the UK. So Garador developed the Design Range to fill this gap; offering a selection of doors with minimalistic and modern panel designs to fit.

The Design Range doors are built using the same high quality engineering and manufacturing processes used on our standard Garador up and over garage doors, and are available as two base designs:

  • The 100 series is made from 4 horizontal skins.
  • The 200 series has 3 vertical skins.

These doors are available in a choice of 19 colour finishes, including Garador’s exclusive Titan Metallic colour finish.

The design elements are cut out of 2mm thick, brushed stainless steel and then permanently attached to the door. Some of the styles created are identical to the designs on FrontGuard entrance doors, so you can choose a front door to perfectly match your garage door from the same supplier.

Visit www.garador.co.uk to view the full range.

Did you know we offer a weather seal for our up and over garage doors?

Garadors Bottom Weather SealIt’s cold, it’s wet and it’s windy outside, and since garages are often used for a variety of purposes; from home offices to man caves, a rubber weather seal can help to protect the items stored inside your garage. They can be applied to the top or the bottom of an up and over garage door, helping to keep the dust, dirt and weather outside.

A durable rubber weather seal for homeowners with an up and over door on their garage can help to provide a better seal around the garage opening. The small gaps around the edges of the door can be closed with a rubber weather seal and therefore help to keep all that winter weather outside. As a result, doors with rubber weather seals could potentially contribute to minimised heat loss inside the garage.

CE Marking for Garage Doors – What, Why, Where?

CE Marking logo

What is CE Marking?
The CE Mark is a mandatory conformity mark for certain products (including garage doors) sold within the European Economic Area after 1985. For Garador garage doors there is a label clearly applied to the back of the door, containing a CE logo, the installers name, the door number and the installation date.

Why do it, what happens if you don’t do it?
It is important your garage door installer does it to comply with EU legislation. For example, it is against the law to install a power operated door in the UK without complying with the EU Machinery Directive.

It is illegal as a manufacturer, importer or reseller to supply an electric operator within the EU unless it is CE marked. A garage door also requires a CE mark under the Construction Products Regulations. Once you have a garage door and an operator, each carrying their respective CE marks, as an individual you can fit them yourself and you don’t need to do any more paperwork. However if, as part of your business, you are being paid to fit a door with an operator (or an operator to an existing door) then you also need to complete a “declaration of conformity” under the EU Machinery Directive.

Where can I get some training on how to do CE Marking for Garador garage doors?

Garador currently offers CE Marking training for all its installers on their installation training courses.

Garador Staff Support British Heart Foundation with ‘Wear It, Beat It’ Day!

Garador staff at Wear It Beat It BHF Charity EventLast Friday Garador staff ran their own Wear It, Beat It fundraising charity day, in support of the British Heart Foundation. The charity fundraising day was spearheaded by Garador’s very own, Kim Kerswell, who recently discovered she had a heart condition and has since had a pacemaker fitted. Kim found the British Heart Foundation to be very supportive, providing her with a booklet at the hospital and information on their online community page to help her to learn more about her condition.

The British Heart Foundation undertakes a tremendous amount of research into pacemaker technology. Kim feels that their work has really helped her, so she wanted to give something back to the charity, by raising money to contribute to their research on pacemakers.

The staff at Garador helped setup a cake sale, with lots of lovely homemade cakes including cupcakes, lemon cakes, coffee cakes and even a red velvet cake! We also did a raffle to win a fancy box of chocolates and a bottle of wine for Valentine’s Day, along with a prize for the most imaginative red outfit worn on the day going to Liam Harris and Dave ‘Bert’ Thomas! All in all, everyone had a great time and were delighted to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause with £243.70 going to the British Heart Foundation.

According to the British Heart Foundation, heart and circulatory diseases take the lives of more than 400 people in the UK each day. To find out more, please visit the British Heart Foundation’s Wear It, Beat It website.

Top 5 things to consider when buying a garage door

Garador offers advice on choosing a garage doorWhen you are looking to buy a new garage door, it’s sometimes tricky to know where to start. So we’ve created a list of top points to consider. You can view all the garage doors we offer on the Garador website, and if you want to find out more about the specifics of each door type why not view our garage doors explained page.

1. What the garage is being used for.
It’s an obvious one, but is sometimes overlooked… Is your garage used as a home office and therefore needs the garage door to be insulated? Or perhaps it is being used as a studio or business enterprise and would therefore require some natural light from windows in the door. Maybe you want to save space inside the garage, and would therefore be better off with a compact solution such as a roller door or canopy up and over door which does not have tracks running back into the garage. There’s lots to consider here…

2. Materials.
Garage doors are supplied in steel, timber, aluminium and GRP materials. Choosing the right material is likely to be driven by its appearance as well as practical issues such as how durable it is and how much maintenance is required. Steel is the most cost effective option and timber can provide a very natural, unique look. Our GaraRoll roller doors have aluminium laths which have corrosion resistant properties.

3. Security.
Security is often the most important consideration for homeowners, as they may store valuable goods in the garage or the garage maybe integral providing easy access to the house. All Garador up & over, sectional and GaraRoll roller doors have solid security features, and Garador also offers a range of Secured by Design accredited doors with additional security features.

4. Safety.
You don’t want the garage door to break or come crashing down on your car, so it’s important to choose one with built-in safety features. All Garador garage doors are engineered to comply with British Safety Standard BS EN 13241. For example, our canopy up and over doors have a built-in anti-drop device.

5. Budget.
It’s the elephant in the room, but is still an important consideration. A local Garador stockist/ installer will be able to help you choose the right garage door for your home and get it fitted, all within an agreed budget.

Check out www.garador.co.uk for more information on all our garage doors.
