Last Friday Garador staff ran their own Wear It, Beat It fundraising charity day, in support of the British Heart Foundation. The charity fundraising day was spearheaded by Garador’s very own, Kim Kerswell, who recently discovered she had a heart condition and has since had a pacemaker fitted. Kim found the British Heart Foundation to be very supportive, providing her with a booklet at the hospital and information on their online community page to help her to learn more about her condition.
The British Heart Foundation undertakes a tremendous amount of research into pacemaker technology. Kim feels that their work has really helped her, so she wanted to give something back to the charity, by raising money to contribute to their research on pacemakers.
The staff at Garador helped setup a cake sale, with lots of lovely homemade cakes including cupcakes, lemon cakes, coffee cakes and even a red velvet cake! We also did a raffle to win a fancy box of chocolates and a bottle of wine for Valentine’s Day, along with a prize for the most imaginative red outfit worn on the day going to Liam Harris and Dave ‘Bert’ Thomas! All in all, everyone had a great time and were delighted to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause with £243.70 going to the British Heart Foundation.
According to the British Heart Foundation, heart and circulatory diseases take the lives of more than 400 people in the UK each day. To find out more, please visit the British Heart Foundation’s Wear It, Beat It website.
