It’s been a bit chillier this week and certainly feels like winter is on the way. If your front door has seen better days or you are working on a new building project, then the FrontGuard Plus range could be a great solution and the perfect complement to your Garador garage door. The door panel itself is filled with highly efficient insulating foam. We’ve increased the insulation from 46mm to a whopping 65mm, on FrontGuard Plus doors to help keep warmth in, and more importantly, energy bills down. The door frame and seals have been expertly engineered to minimise heat loss and eliminate thermal bridges, so it’s sure to help keep your home warm and protect you from the elements of winter! We’ve installed shatterproof glazing in a variety of styles, 5 point locking for additional security and 3 way adjustable hinges for ease of installation too.
FrontGuard Plus is available in a variety of stunning Modern and Contemporary design ranges:
We have two ranges for our timber up & over doors, Cedar doors which are made from solid red cedar as the name implies, and Elizabethan doors which are made from a combination of solid red cedar and plywood. We’ve just added four new doors to the range:
The new Countryman, Hampton and Addlington doors are constructed from solid red cedar and offer more choice and more options when trying to choose a door that will match your home’s architectural features.
Grown in cooler climates, the cedar wood has developed self-protective qualities to protect against temperature related stresses. It is useful as a home building material where humidity, temperature and cracking are common problems. Whilst many types of wood warp when subjected to moisture; cedar stays straight and flat and should last a lifetime if properly maintained. This makes it ideal for a garage door. Cedar wood doors can be stained and painted and not lose their beautiful grained appearance. All Garador timber doors come with a base stain as standard. A choice of stains and paint finishes are also available to enhance the appearance and appeal.
We have also added a new style of door to its Elizabethan range called the Grantham; which combines solid red cedar and a plywood backing to offer a different style of design without compromising on value for money. Please visit the Garador website for more information.
The Garador garage door builder is up and running, it’s an easy to use garage door configurator that will enable you to choose the right garage door for your home and then request a quote from a local garage door specialist.
You can choose from all door types and styles, specify sizes, colours, handles, gearing options and extras. Why not give it a try here.

Garador’s Managing Director Simon Hipgrave cycled over 176 miles over two days this week, as part of the Tour De Jewson charity cycle ride! Keen cyclists Rob Green and Alan Bacon joined Simon on the Exeter leg of the cycle event which ended back at the Garador factory here in Yeovil. After a lot of hard work and some challenging hills everyone was a little worn out, but were really pleased to have cycled such a long way to support Macmillan Cancer Support. They are a great charity and we are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause which makes such a difference to so many people’s lives. To make a contribution, please click here.

A charity cycle ride from Watchet Harbour on the North Somerset coast to West Bay in South Somerset took place on Sunday 19th May to help raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. We had heard that lots of cyclists would bring their bikes by car to Watchet Harbour but could not easily get back from West Bay, so the team at Garador decided to help out by providing the support of one of our delivery trucks for transportation. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance plays an important role in delivering life-saving support, so we wanted to do our bit to help people taking part and to support the charity. At present the cycle ride has generated over £40,000 in sponsorship donations. Please Click here to visit their website.

With a range of colours, designs and insulation options, a sectional garage door is a great choice for any property, and from an aesthetic point of view it looks more expensive and high-class than a traditional up & over or roller garage door.
Great choice of designs colours and finishes. With design styles in ribbed or panelled variations, in a number of surface finishes, these doors are far more the discerning buyer’s choice. There are two types of sectional door design:
Linear (small, medium and large)
Georgian
We also now offer a choice of surface finishes for linear sectional doors which includes
Woodgrain
Silkgrain
When you combine these sectional door designs with the surface finishes and range of colours, you are sure to be able to find a door to suit your property. We currently offer 15 standard colours for silkgrain or woodgrain finishes.
Let’s not forget about the choice of timber effect finishes and the new silkgrain titan metallic finish on premium sectional doors. The timber effect coating has been manufactured to preserve the appearance of the door for the long term.
Thermal insulation options With a choice of single skin Classic style, Standard 20mm insulated doors and Premium 42mm thick insulated doors sectional garage doors are ideal for workshops and integral garages where thermal insulation can be very important. Furthermore, each of the joints on individual sections of a sectional garage door are surrounded by rubber seals, to help improve thermal insulation. A sectional garage door is better thermally insulated with a lower U Value of 1.3 W/m2K, whilst a typical up & over has a U value of 5.8 W/m2K.
No loss of drive through width or height Unlike up & over garage doors, sectional doors are made from sections and run on vertical then horizontal tracks to lift and open the door into the garage. This means you have no loss of drive through width or height and you can park as close to your garage door as you want. Whereas this is not possible with a canopy up & over garage door, as it protrudes outwards by about 1/3 when open. A sectional door is also ideal for short drives or larger vehicles (4x4 and MPVs) where space inside the garage may also be a problem.
Manual or electrical Sectional doors are suitable for either manual or electrical operation, so you can open the door by hand or have an automatic operator fitted with remotes so the door opens at the click of a button. Click here to view the new Series 3 range of GaraMatic operators and handsets. Safe and reliable As with all Garador garage doors, the sectional garage door comes with a reliable anti-drop device that will catch the door in the unlikely event of a spring failing or a cable snapping. In addition, the tracks running back into the garage have been designed with safety brackets to prevent the door wheels from derailing. Sectional garage doors comply with British Safety Standards BS EN 13241 and the same high grade of galvanised steel is used on sectional doors as up & over doors. So with a combination of superior engineering, ease of operation and fabulous good looks why wouldn’t you want a sectional garage door? In the long term, a sectional garage door offers greater reliability and peace of mind. To find your nearest stockist please visit www.garador.co.uk/stockists
Often when you think of a sectional garage door, you think it would be more expensive than an up & over garage door… but that isn’t always the case. For example
So that’s only £12 more for a 7070 sectional garage door, providing the door is fitted behind the brickwork, and if the door is fitted between the opening (rare cases) then it’s an additional £62 on top of the £12 for some white silk grain sectional cover profiles.
For the 8070 sectional garage door, providing it’s fitted behind the brickwork opening again, then you save £41 on a classic linear small or linear medium sectional door when compared to a Horizon retractable up & over door. In essence you are getting a more sophisticated and reliable door for very little and sometimes even no extra money!
